Course Description

CEU Course Description

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) causes chronic inflammation of the airways and destruction of the lung parenchyma, which lead to structural changes and dynamic collapse in the small airways.  Given the interdependent relationship between the respiratory and musculoskeletal systems, various manual techniques have been proposed for the treatment of COPD symptoms.  The goal of this CEU course is to evaluate the effects of the Manual Diaphragm Release Technique on respiratory function of people with COPD.

CEU Course Objectives

  1. Explain how the musculoskeletal changes inherent to the aging process influence breathing.
  2. Investigate the statistically significant improvements that the Manual Diaphragm Release Technique produced in people with COPD.
