Course Description

This satisfies the required two hour course on the prevention of medical errors required by Florida for physical therapists and physical therapy assistants. The Florida law is presented and methods to reduce and prevent errors are reviewed. Also discussed, are the five most misdiagnosed conditions that contribute to medical errors.

Course Objectives

  1. Define what is considered a medical error
  2. List the injuries resulting from an adverse event that must be reported to the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (ACHA)
  3. Describe interventions that may prevent common medical errors
  4. Explain the 5 most commonly misdiagnosed conditions that may contribute to a medical error
