COURSE DESCRIPTION

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a developmental disability characterized by social and communication impairments and by restricted interests and repetitive behaviors.  This CEU course explores diagnosis, causes, and treatments for autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

COURSE OBJECTIVES

  1. List the features that all good early intervention programs share.
  2. Differentiate between the estimated prevalence of ASD in boys compared to girls.
  3. Recognize the areas for which persistent deficits are required for the diagnosis of ASD.
  4. Recognize the role occupational therapist play in helping people with autism adjust to tasks and conditions to match their needs and abilities.
