CEU Course Description

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a major cause of disability with post-traumatic headache being one of the most prevalent and long-lasting post-concussion sequelae, causing significant morbidity, and may also be associated with slower neurocognitive recovery.  The goal of this CEU course is to evaluate the use of concussion screening scores in a concussion clinic population to assess for post-traumatic headache.

CEU Course Objectives

1.  Conclude how a prior history of headache and/or concussions are associated with the prevalence and intensity of posttraumatic headaches.

2.  Explain why the SCAT-3 symptom scores might be a useful tool for neurologists and headache specialists.

3.  List four primary causes of traumatic brain injury in patients seen in the Emergency Department.

4.  Summarize which demographic a prior study on concussion assessment in an outpatient heterogenous population showed to be associated with worse SCAT-3 symptom scores.
