CEU Course Description

This four-hour Georgia Ethics and Jurisprudence course provides physical therapists and physical therapist assistants with a practical review of the ethical, legal, and professional standards that guide physical therapy practice in Georgia. Topics include the Georgia Physical Therapy Practice Act, Georgia State Board of Physical Therapy rules and policies, continuing competency and CE tracking requirements, and other current regulatory updates. The course also addresses direct access, telehealth, social media and electronic communication, the Physical Therapy Compact, dry needling, and other issues relevant to today’s physical therapy practice. Case studies and reflection questions throughout the course allow participants to apply these requirements to realistic situations and strengthen their understanding of professional responsibilities, ethical decision-making, appropriate boundaries, and compliance with Georgia requirements.

CEU Course Objectives

1. Identify elements of the Georgia general provisions of ethics and jurisprudence and the Georgia Physical Therapy Practice Act pertaining to physical therapy practice.
2. Recall ethical theories and determinants of moral and ethical behavior within physical therapy practice.
3. Recognize requirements of the online continuing education tracking system utilized by the Georgia State Board of Physical Therapy. 
4. Identify any proposed rules on the Georgia Board of Physical Therapy website that may affect the practice of physical therapy.
