CEU Course Description
This course provides physical therapists and physical therapist assistants with an overview of dual tasking (DT) and its role in functional rehabilitation across neurological and cognitively complex patient populations. This course explores the science behind dual task interference, methods of clinical examination, and the importance of preparing patients for real-world environments that require simultaneous motor, cognitive, visual, auditory, or manual demands. Participants will review how dual task performance is assessed, measured, and monitored over time, including clinical indicators of improvement and effectiveness. The course also highlights key clinical considerations and applications for individuals with stroke, cognitive impairment, Parkinson’s disease, and concussion, with emphasis on integrating dual task principles into evidence-informed clinical practice.
