CEU Course Description

This continuing education course is designed for physical therapists and physical therapist assistants and provides a concise, evidence-informed overview of total hip arthroplasty and its growing prevalence in clinical practice. The course reviews key historical and recent surgical advancements, including minimally invasive and computer-assisted techniques, and examines their implications for rehabilitation in both home care and outpatient settings. Emphasis is placed on return-to-function phases, activity expectations, precautions, red flags, and evidence-based use of interventions such as continuous passive motion, neuromuscular electrical stimulation, and preoperative therapy, while presenting best practice treatment guidelines, functional exercise progression, and case studies to support safe, effective, and clinically relevant patient care.
