CEU Course Description
The mechanical stiffness of running-specific protheses (RSPs) likely affects the functional abilities of athletes with leg amputations. The goals of this CEU course are to characterize and disseminate the stiffness values of running-specific prostheses, examine the effects of speed and leg prostheses on mediolateral foot placement, investigate differences of the spatiotemporal parameters in a 100-m sprint among those with a unilateral transtibial amputation, and test whether athletes using RSPs on their left side have slower race times than those using RSPs on their right side.
