Alzheimer’s disease is a degenerative brain disease and the most common cause of dementia.  This CEU course describes Alzheimer’s disease, discusses its prevalence, examines the mortality and morbidity related to Alzheimer’s disease, and describes the caregiving and health care associated issues.


CEU Course Objectives

  1. Enumerate the greatest risk factors for late-onset Alzheimer’s.
  2. Investigate which genes mutations are guaranteed to lead to Alzheimer’s.
  3. Compare and contrast the forms of dementia and the early symptoms of each.
  4. Examine which form of Apolipoprotein E increases one’s risk of developing Alzheimer’s.
  5. Identify the physical feature that blocks the transport of nutrients and other essential molecules inside neurons.
  6. Provide the most common reason for hospitalization of people with Alzheimer’s dementia.
