CE Credit Hours: 2.00 Continuing Education Credit Hours
CEU Course Description
Patients with chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) often complain of persistent fatigue even after conventional therapies. This CEU course will delve into the use of yoga as an effective intervention for the fatigue and pain associated with CFS. First, we will view a randomized controlled trial that will assess the effect of isometric yoga done in the seated position on fatigue and pain. The experimental trial involves 30 subjects with CFS who have not had satisfactory results within six months prior to the trial and tracks them over 2 months of yoga intervention. Next, we will discuss a pilot study that aims to assess the feasibility and efficacy of a recumbent isometric yoga program. This study includes 12 subjects with severe CFS over 3 months looking at both short and long-term effects of the isometric yoga program. The reading materials for this course include articles from the Biopsychosocial Medicine journal.
