CE Credit Hours: 1.00 Continuing Education Credit Hours
CEU Course Description
Hamstrings muscle strain often occurs during sporting events / activities where the muscle group is actively stretched by simultaneous hip flexion and knee extension movements. The goal of this CEU course is to examine the acute effects different dynamic exercise interventions on hamstring muscle performance and primary risk factors. We will review the effects of jogging alone as well as in combination with dynamic open or closed chain kinetic activities to evaluate to associated flexibility, joint position sense, muscle stiffness, maximal eccentric strength and peak torque with each group of activities.
CEU Course Objectives
1. Choose a common test to examine the hamstring muscle flexibility.
2. Describe how stretching techniques increase joint ROM.
3. Determine which mechanical factor can be associated with muscle performance after stretching.
4. List four primary risk factors for hamstring strain.
