CEU Course Description

Hippotherapy (HT) is a therapeutic method based on the practice of horsemanship activities that uses the horse as the main kinesiotherapic agent.  The goal of this CEU course is to investigate whether HT has short- and long-term effects on postural control and movement dysfunction in those with conditions such as cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, and traumatic brain injury.

 

CEU Course Objectives

  1. Explain the relation to the ground that the line that ideally links the hip points to the upper third of the scapula should be to ensure a high level of equine-assisted therapy.
  2. Examine when the parameters of center of pressure movement decreased after hippotherapy.
  3. Identify the most used natural gait of the horse in equine-assisted therapy and explain the reason for this.
  4. Provide the primary goal of Hippotherapy.
