CEU Course Description

Athletes undergo vigorous training in order to be successful in their sport.  They must participate in more than the recommended amount of daily physical activity to reach a high level of competition.  High levels of training can lead to high risk of injury in specific sports, which may lead to future disability and potential risk of chronic disease.  The goal of this CEU course is to examine the incidence of injury in athletes in specific sports and the relationship between specific sports and future chronic disease risk. This course is based on an article by the International Journal of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

 CEU Course Objectives

  1. Investigate which athletes have the highest rate of being admitted to the hospital for osteoarthritis.
  2. Examine the long-term effects of physical activity on back pain in former athletes.
