CEU Course Description
This CEU course provides basic information on rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and summarizes scientific research on the effectiveness and safety of selected mind and body practices, dietary supplements, and other approaches that have been studied for RA. In addition, this course will: identify the most common microbial infections associated with RA; summarize the current evidence supporting their pathogenic role in RA; and discuss the potential mechanisms whereby infection may promote the development of RA, such as generation of neo-autoantigens, induction of loss of tolerance by molecular mimicry, and bystander activation of the immune system.
CEU Course Objectives
1. Explain the damage that rheumatoid arthritis may do over time if not treated.
2. Investigate the most commonly associated RA diseases.
3. Examine the treatment method that has been found to improve the ability to cope with pain, especially for those with a history of depression.
4. Describe which dietary supplement used to treat RA has risks that outweigh its benefits.
