CEU Course Description
Heart failure (HF) is an emerging epidemic that affects both sexes and all races. Understanding the pathophysiology of HF allows one to achieve the goals of treatment, which are to relieve symptoms, decrease hospital admissions, prolong patient life, as well as improve the patient’s overall quality of life. The goals of this CEU course are to review the rationale for the use of heat and/or cold as a treatment modality for HF and explore how advancements in bioheat transfer modeling coupled with improvements in delivery techniques will have an impact in the design and analysis of a thermotherapy system.
* Please note that the sentence at the very bottom of page 5 of the pdf, “Infrared energy as part of the EM spectrum has a shorter wave length than ultraviolet and visible light.” is incorrect. Infrared has conversely be shown to have a longer wave length compared to both ultraviolet and visible lights. We have contacted the authors and requested a correction.
