CEU Course Description
Exercise has been shown to be effective in decreasing pain, and improving function and performance of activities of daily living in people with arthritis. While hydrotherapy is often suggested as an exercise intervention, there is little evidence that it is more effective than other forms of exercise. This CE course identifies the patient reported outcome measures used for assessing the effectiveness of hydrotherapy for people with arthritis.
The article for this course is from Physiotherapy New Zealand, www.physiotherapy.org.nz, as first published in the New Zealand Journal of Physiotherapy.
CEU Course Objectives
1. Enumerate the benefits of hydrotherapy, compared to land-based exercises, as suggested from clinical experience.
2. Explain which patient reported outcome measure is considered the gold standard and has been specifically developed for hydrotherapy intervention studies.
3. Investigate the criteria that a patient reported outcome measure must meet in order to have value.
