CE Credit Hours: 2.00 Continuing Education Credit Hours
CEU Course Description
Spinal cord injury (SCI) can compromise the ability to maintain an erect seated posture. This CEU course examines the design, technical performance, and clinical implementation of a sensor-based threshold controller to automatically modulate stimulation to paralyzed hip and trunk extensor muscles to restore upright sitting from forward leaning postures.
CEU Course Objectives
1. Discuss the problems that the 'C'-shaped kyphotic posture can contribute to.
2. Explain, with the controller active, what a significant reduction in the upper-limb effort required to restore an erect posture implies.
3. Elucidate the consequences of the inability to control the motions of the spine and pelvis.
