Pressure ulcer prevention presents an important challenge in acute care hospitals. Prevention requires activities among many individuals, including multiple disciplines and teams involved in developing and implementing the care plan. This course presents best practices that have been shown to be effective in reducing the occurrence of pressure ulcers and is designed for health care professionals; including physical and occupational therapists that care for patients in a hospital setting.
CEU Course Objectives
List the questions that must be addressed to asses readiness for change in the implementation of a pressure ulcer prevention program
Describe the pressure ulcer care bundle components that are likely to lead to improved patient outcomes
Explain how a comprehensive skin assessment and a standardized pressure ulcer risk assessment should be conducted
Demonstrate understanding of measuring pressure ulcer rates and for measuring program progress
