Course Description

Compiled directly from 2011 information from the APTA, Ethics, Laws & Regulations – California Physical Therapyfulfills the 2 hour continuing competency requirements for ethics, laws and regulations for physical therapists practicing in the state of California. This course focuses on Licensure Regulations, California Regulations, APTA Code of Ethics and Guide for Professional Conduct with interpretations and examples of each Code of Ethics Principle. The Guide provides a framework by which physical therapists may determine the propriety of their conduct.

Course Objectives

At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify and interpret APTA Code of Ethics Principles.
  2. Understand the correct use of physical therapist assistants and aides
  3. Identify and interpret CA licensure and regulations.
  4. Define and apply CA continuing competency regulations.
  5. Identify and apply the propriety of conduct as defined in the Guide of Professional Conduct.
