CE Credit Hours: 2.00 Continuing Education Credit Hours
CEU Course Description
The extent to which muscle power limits walking performance or whether its remediation should be a primary component of locomotor rehabilitation has yet to be established. The purpose of this CEU course is to examine the feasibility and the effects of Post-stroke Optimization of Walking using Explosive Resistance (POWER) training, a high-intensity and high-velocity lower-limb power training program and an intervention aimed at improving post stroke muscular and locomotor function. Also evaluated is the effects of long-term Kinesio Tape (KT) application to quadriceps muscles on isokinetic muscle strength, gait, and functional parameters in patients with stroke.
CEU Course Objectives
1. Discuss how the improvement of walking speed is related to overall health status and a predictor of recovery.
2. Explain what muscle power deficits are associated with.
3. Investigate how Kinesio Tape enhances muscle activation and reeducation.
